Solubility: Soluble in oil; insoluble in water. Behentrimonium Chloride requires heating to get fully dissolves.

Formulation Notes & Guidelines (Behentrimonium Chloride)

‎Concentration: Recommended to be used at low levels, between 0.5% to 5%

Incorporation Phase: Add Behentrimonium Chloride to the heated oil phase of your formulation.

It takes a bit of time to melt. Gently heat it until it completely dissolves.

How to Dissolve: Heat in a double boiler or add warm or hot water to your Behentrimonium Chloride, and stir untill fully melted.

Processing Temperature: This ingredient is not heat-sensitive. Heat it to 70-75°C for proper melting (it has a high melting point).

Optimal pH Range: Adjust the pH of your final product to between 4.0 to 6.0, which aligns with the natural pH of the skin and hair.

 

‎Compatibility & Notes

While Behentrimonium Chloride is compatible with a lot of ingredients, you need to be aware of those it is not compatible with – in order to ensure efficacy in your product formulations.

1. Compatible with most cationic and non-ionic ingredients

2. Incompatibility Notes: Avoid combining Behentrimonium Chloride (which is Cationic) with strong anionic surfactants to preserve conditioning effect. Why is that? Cationic ingredients are not generally compatible with Anionic ingredients.

3. Works well in emulsions and cream-based systems

4. Can be used alongside fatty alcohols (e.g., Cetearyl Alcohol) for enhanced texture and performance.
