Why did my hair pomade or edge control turn out cloudy instead of crystal clear?

Two usual culprits.

• Temperature: heat both your oil and water phases to at least 75°C–80°C (167°F–176°F) before mixing. If the temperature drops too fast, the ingredients won’t bond correctly.
• Oil-to-water ratio: clear gels need a precise balance. Too much oil, or too little Ceteareth-25 to fully solubilise it, turns the mixture opaque.
