D-Panthenol Powder is a popular hair and skincare ingredient due to its ability to help protect, repair and hydrate the skin and hair follicles. Ingredient Function: Humectant/ Moisturizer, Conditioning/ Anti-inflammatory

Processing: Panthenol is synthetically made

Appearance: White to cream colour, crystalline powder

Smell: Odourless

Storage: store in a cool and dry place, in a tightly sealed container

PH: 8-10.5

Melting Point: 64.5°C to 68.5°C

Solubility: Soluble in Water, alcohol, ethanol, Propylene Glycol; slightly soluble in Glycerin; Not soluble in oils

Usage Rate: 0.75% to 2%, up to 5% [Lotions and creams: up to 0.5-3%; Shampoos and Conditioners: 0.75-1%; Hair Styling Products: 0.5-0.75%,; Nail Care Products: 1%]

Commonly Used In: Face and body moisturizers (creams and lotions), haircare products including hair conditioners and shampoos and conditioner bars, hair sprays, bath care products including body washes, makeup, nail care products, sunburn products, liquid soaps, bar soaps, sunburn products

Formulation Notes:

  • D-Panthenol Powder can be cold- or hot-processed, depending on whether the formulation requires heat or not
  • You can also pre-dissolve it in some water before adding to a formulation
  • Add Panthenol Powder to the heated water phase of your formulation and stir until it dissolves
  • Panthenol Powder can be formulated without heat.
  • For Formulations that do not require heat, D-Panthenol Powder can be added to the cool-down phase or to cold/ cool water
  • Ideal PH range in Formulations: Hydrous formulations with Panthenol Powder are stable within pH range of 3.5 to 7, with pH 6 as the optimal
  • If heating, add Panthenol around not more than 40 °C, or heat to 40 °C for a short period.
