Description

Ferulic Acid powder is a skincare ingredient with powerful antioxidant properties and the ability to help protect the skin sun damage. It also helps stabilize Vitamin C in a formulation, by slowing down the undesirable oxidation of Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic/ Ascorbic Acid).

Solubility: Ferulic Acid is soluble in Ethanol, Propylene Glycol, Propanediol

Usage Rate: 0.1% to 1%, up to 5%

Storage:  Store in a tightly sealed container, in a cool and dry place, away from light and moisture

Shelf Life: 2 years, if properly stored

Formulation Notes:

• Dissolve Ferulic Acid first before adding it in a formulation
• Incorporate pre-dissolved Ferulic Acid into the heated water phase (add the Ferulic Acid, and then heat to further dissolve it)
• OR add the pre-dissolved Ferulic Acid at the end of the emulsion process/ oil phase
• Alternatively, add pre-dissolved Ferulic Acid to cool-down phase of a formulation
• Ferulic Acid can also be dispersed into the heated water phase. NOTE that Ferulic Acid forms a milky/cloudy-yellow solution (and not a clear solution) when added to hot water
• Final PH of formulation: Adjust to final PH 3.0-3.5
• Compatible with: Ferulic acid works well in formulations containing Vitamin C (Ascorbic) acid, Vitamin E, Panthenol

• Vitamin Stabilizer and Preservation: Ferulic Acid powder helps improve stability of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) and other antioxidant vitamins in a formulation, to slow down Vitamin C oxidation and degradation. Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) is known to be highly unstable and quick to oxidize in formulations, causing it to become ineffective and lose its skin-loving benefits. Including Ferulic Acid in the same formulation helps keep Vitamin C stable and prevent it from oxidizing
• Fades Spots: Ferulic Acid helps fade hyperpigmentation. Studies revealed that formulations containing both Vitamin E and Ferulic Acid help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation and dark spots
