Description

Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is a skincare ingredient with antioxidant property that helps brighten the complexion, reduces hyperpigmentation and dark spots, increases collagen production, and prevents UV damage to the skin.

PH: 2.5 (in 5% solution in water)

Storage: Store in a tightly sealed container, and keep in a cool and dry place

Usage Rate: 1-10%, up to 25%

Commonly used to formulate: Serums, creams and lotions, after-sun and sun care products, makeup

Formulation Notes:

• Pre-dissolve Ascorbic Acid with water, and add to the cool down phase of your formulation (Ascorbic Acid is heat-sensitive)
• Final PH of Product: Adjust final PH to pH 4-5 (optimal PH is 3.5 ), within which Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is stable. Ascorbic Acid is PH-dependent.
• Antioxidant effect can be increased by adding Vitamin E to the formulation containing Ascorbic Acid
• Stability and shelf life of of Ascorbic Acid can be improved by adding Ferulic Acid to the formulation (Ascorbic Acid is naturally unstable and oxidizes easily).
